Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, we have decided to postpone our Charity Golf Day until 2021. An announcement will be made once we have a new date.

My Insolvency are hosting their second charity golf day in support of The UK Sepsis Trust. We host this event bi-annually and our very first golf day back in 2018 raised nearly £2,500.

This is a cause close to our hearts as one of our directors, Stan Coltman, was affected by sepsis in 2016. It was touch and go at one stage, with Stan being given just 24 hours to live. As sepsis took hold of Stan’s body, he lost the use of both his left arm and left eye, however, through his strength and determination, the use of Stan’s left arm returned. Unfortunately, the sight in Stan’s left will never return.

Sepsis, which is also known as blood poisoning, is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection or injury. Instead of fighting the infection, the immune system attacks the body’s organs and tissues.  Sepsis affects 245,000 people in the UK every year, with 48,000 losing their lives to sepsis-related illness’. A staggering 40% of sepsis survivors suffer with permanent, life changing after effects.

The UK Sepsis Trust was founded in 2012 by Dr Ron Daniels BEM, a NHS consultant. Their goal is:

“to end preventable deaths from sepsis and improve outcomes for sepsis survivors. We believe that earlier diagnosis and treatment across the UK would save several thousand lives a year.”

How do the funds we raise help the charity?*

  • £18 pays for one hour of telephone support
  • £100 educates 50 members of the public on how to look out for sepsis
  • £200 pays for a regional support group event for those affected by sepsis
  • £1,000 provides a hospital with staff training, education and awareness resources
  • £4,500 trains and equips a hospital change team that could save around 100 lives every year
